Teacher Gifts - Sweet Surprises!

My Originals Sweet Surprises Card Kit

This is a complete card kit which includes...
10 Tri-fold cards
10 Envelope boxes
10 Treat cups
2 Sheets of stickers
1 Sheet of Dimensional elements
2 Yards of ribbon
10 Dimensional sentiments

So, you pick which candy you want to put in the cup... I chose Runts
because I loved their color and the size was perfect! I completed the inside of the card first, added embelishments and had my daughter sign this for her pre-school teacher.

This is the completed inside

I put a dimentional cupcake on the outside to match the inside with a dimensional sentiment.  This one says "Wishing You" and I wrote "a sweet summer" on the inside. I also added some of the stickers that came in the pack and closed it with the ribbon (also included).

Here are 4 of the 10 finished product...I know the teachers will get a kick out of these unique cards!

Frilly Dress Card

I was going to make these cards for Mother's Day, but I lost all track of time.  So, I made them today!  They turned out great!  I going to share with you step by step how to make these yourself.  I started with B&T paper (background & texture paper) that has a different pattern on each side - the name of this paper pack is LUCY.  I cut out 2 skirts -  3/4 of an inch and the top and 4 1/4 inches at the bottom...

I then scored each skirt and folded as desired.

I then cut 2 tops out of the same paper and put them with the opposite skirt.

If the skirt and top of the dress differ a little in size, don't worry, most of the middle area will be covered by the belt. (see below)... to make the belt, take a coordinating ribbon and make small tight knots and cut close to the knot.

I then attached the skirt, top and belt to a complementary color card stock after random stamping the card stock. Then I attached the card stock to my actual card base...
Easy as that!
A frilly dress card!

Simple Scrapbook Page

Here is a scrapbook page that I used to make a calendar for my young women's group.  I think it turned out great!  I used paper from my "random" paper pile... Since you can make your paper strips (banners) any size, this is a great way to use up scraps.  Tell me what you think - leave a comment at the bottom.

Paper Tearing Card Instructions

These may be better pictures for you to really see how cute and simple paper tearing can be!

I usually start with a 5.5" x. 4" pre-cut card...
I choose two papers that compliment each other...
I cut a 3/4" x 4" piece that will "peek" through.
I cut the more bold or solid piece of paper the same size as the card base.
I then tear the bold/solid piece of paper where I think it looks best...
Around 1" - 1.5"
I sometimes rough up the edges to add even more distress.
To check if I like the look, I assemble the card WITHOUT adhesive and make adjustments if something isn't right.
I then attach the "peek" through piece first.
Then the bottom bold/solid piece, then the top.
Add embellish along the tear.

Tearing Tricks

Tearing paper gives it a unique look - it is unexpected, unusual on a card or scrapbook page.  I love this "peak-a-boo" card where a little bit of fancy paper peaks through a darker/solid paper.  CTMH products have a white core, so when torn, you see a bit of white.  It says shabby chic to me.. (so on trend).  Hope you like this tip.  Please comment on how and when you tear your paper!

The More the Merrier

I find that when I stumble upon a design (recipe) I like for a card or project, it is just as easy to make several as it is to make one.  I really only buy and use 12x12 paper. If I need a different size, I cut it down...So, when making a card for my Father-in-law's birthday the measurements allowed me to make 3 cards instead of just one... Give this idea a try and see if it is true for you.

I also have to like purple because it is my son's favorite color!

2 pieces of patterned paper, 3 x 4.5 inches

2 lengths of ribbon, each 16 inches long

2) Decorate the purse with patterned paper, ribbon, and embellishments.

3) Fold together purse and glue. Add brads to sides for extra durability.
